The global industrial cybersecurity market is projected to reach $22.8 billion by 2026, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.2%. As industries embrace digital transformation, the demand for robust cybersecurity solutions has intensified to safeguard critical infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. In Bahrain, the cybersecurity market is also expanding significantly, with an estimated value of $402.16 million in 2024, projected to reach $529.89 million by 2029 at a CAGR of 5.67%. This growth is driven by the adoption of technologies like AI, IoT, cloud computing, and big data analytics, making cybersecurity a top priority for organizations in the region.
Bahrain goes to great lengths to protect its public and private sector infrastructure from online and financial threats. Playing a key role are two Ministry of Interior organisations, the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic & Electronic Security, and the National Cyber Security Centre.
Investment in cybersecurity is accelerating globally, with spending expected to exceed $1 trillion by 2025. Within the GCC, governments and private sectors are reinforcing their digital defences, exemplified by Bahrain's National Cybersecurity Strategy, which emphasizes public-private collaboration. Bahrain’s recognition in the highest category of the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index reflects its dedication to strengthening digital infrastructure and protecting data. However, challenges persist, as evidenced by the $30 million in damages caused by cyberattacks in 2023, underscoring the critical need for enhanced resilience.
Aligned with its Economic Vision 2030, Bahrain is implementing initiatives to position itself as a regional leader in digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. These efforts align with the Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Digital Economy Strategy for 2022–2026. To further this mission, Bahrain will host the 21st CyberX Global Series and the 2nd Annual CyberX Summit & Awards on April 23, 2025, in Manama. This premier event will unite cybersecurity leaders, innovators, and industry professionals to discuss cutting-edge advancements and solutions, offering a transformative platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing in an increasingly complex cyber landscape.
